In the process of mediation, Elyssa M. Schnurr, a trained mediator since 1993, serves as a neutral third party. She meets with opposing sides to facilitate communication and negotiation between the parties, working towards finding a mutually satisfactory resolution of their dispute and avoiding continued litigation and court involvement. The process of mediation allows each party to control the outcome of their dispute by engaging in negotiation and compromise, and eliminating the stress, strain and costs of contentious litigation.
Ms. Schnurr appreciates that many times the best interest of clients may be met by facilitating alternative dispute resolution (mediation) before reaching court. At the time when sometimes critical, life-changing decisions are being made, she believes it is vital to reduce the emotion of highly charged situations, so that practical and fair solutions can be agreed upon in a business-like manner. Parties benefiting from mediation may include, but are certainly not limited to, divorcing spouses, life partners, beneficiaries of an estate or trust, employers and employees, landlords and tenants, consumers, businesses and vendors, neighboring individuals, ex-spouses and business partners.
Ms. Schnurr charges a flat fee, per party, for either a 1/2 day mediation, which is typically from 9:00am to 1:00pm or from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, or for a full day mediation, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. |
